“Last night . .
I dreamt . .
the golden bees
were making
white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.”

Antonio Machado

The Orpheus Healing Arts Institute began as a men’s circle in 1987, a therapeutic support group and drumming community and has taken myriad forms over the past 30 years: personal transformation work where men and women explore enlivening circle work, drumming and dream work in a ritual atmosphere.

The Sons of Orpheus, directed by Bruce Silverman was founded in 1987. The group continues a tradition of attention to dimensions of our world that are in danger of being lost: an oral tradition of sacred sound: drumming and chanting, poetry and storytelling.

All men are welcome to join the group: no particular religious or spiritual tradition is favored, and the drumming and chanting is completely beginner friendly. At times the group goes on retreat along with participating in seasonal ritual events such as solstice gatherings, or the Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) processional. We are a mix of relative newcomers and men who have participated for as long as 20 years or more.
